Assistante d'anglais 2010-2011

Assistants

The “espace langues” is a great learning resource for the students at the Lycée Bossuet. The language lab has many great features for the pupils to utilize. The language lab is separated into three different sections. The first section is equipped with computers and headsets that allows students to improve listening comprehension. The headsets also include a microphone. The microphones are a very useful tool, because they allow students to record themselves and hear what they sound like while speaking a foreign language.

The second section of the language has an electronic white board, where images from the computer can be projected. Most often this part of the room is used as a “smart” classroom. Students can project videos from the internet, images for discussion, or a powerpoint presentation.

The last section of the language lab is a kind of sitting area equipped with couches. This provides a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for students to speak in a foreign language. As an assistant this is my favorite place to hold class. The students feel more at ease when it comes to speaking in English.

Not only is the espace langue a notable aspect of the Lycée Bossuet, but their language programs in general are great as well. The students here are very lucky, not only do they have great language teachers, they also get to utilize two foreign language assistants. Each year the Lycée Bossuet receives assistants from a Spanish speaking country and also an English speaking country. This is an excellent resource, not only because students get to hear a different accent, but also because they get to learn about different cultures and also different language expressions. With the language assistants the students can participate in conversation classes, and also foreign language clubs that allow students to talk about subjects outside of a typical classroom.

The students are also very lucky because each year foreign language teachers here arrange for visits to different countries. This year the English teachers have arranged for the Terminal students to visit the UK! The students will get to experience all the famous sites and sounds of London.
